Insight about your Heart.
❤ Hello readers, as we know this blog is specially dedicated to World Heart Day. Its because we (me and my friends) were chatting about random things going on in day-to-day life. One of them came across this notification on google about World Heart Day. She stammered " Oh, now a days what all days are being celebrated, it's a World Heart Day it seems, why fantasize! What's happened to people now a days. Even doctors are involved in celebrating such days. (She then handed over her phone to me and said) See even you'll are being a part of fantasies now."
So, here's to all my readers I would like to tell you a story about why was 'The World Heart Day' came into existence. So that you start loving and caring about your heart.

❤ Before a decade, cardiovascular diseases (CVD's) were one of the leading causes of death worldwide. That simple means one of the reasons that most of deaths were caused was specifically CVD's. There was an ascending pattern in rise of mortality due to CVD's over years. It raised to a level that it became the leading cause of death worldwide.. The World Heart Federation was concerned about this matter. They took the matter in their hands and tried to rule of the emerging cause of CVD's year over year. They found out a very genuine reason and was the most common of all- unawareness. So to spread awareness and make people understand the importance of healthy heart, they started a awareness program in form of celebrating World Heart Day. It has a deep reason behind. So as we all know this is not just a fantasy day. Lets know specific things about CVD's.
Lets have a short introduction about heart and its blood supply. Oh, do u all know heart has its own personal blood supply similarly as other parts of the body.
The Heart -

❤ As we all know a few things about our heart. Like it beats continuously through out the life, with out even stopping for a second in an healthy person. So some of the definitions of heart go as - the hollow organ which pumps blood to the whole body, another like a blood pumping organ, an so on. Some definitions of heart are related with one's emotions like feeling, love, affection, benevolence, compassion, concern, disposition, gusto, humanity, and many more.
❤ Heart some times is also referred to as soul, mind of a person.
❤ Heart is some times also known as the core of a living being.
❤ These all are true definitions of heart. Heart is an hollow pump that pumps the oxygenated blood i.e. nutritious blood the all the body parts including itself. It's working is affected by many things such as emotions like anxiety, sense of relief, etc. It is the core of emotions and nutrition of the body.
Now lets jump to the topic i.e. blood supply of heart itself. In this blog we will go through the insight of blood supply, drainage and what happens in CVD's. Cardiovascular Disease means cardiac associated vessels including the arteries suppling the heart itself.
❤ There as types of CVD's like congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular events, and so on. In this insight we will have a detailed information about what is Coronary Artery Disease (CAD).
BLOOD SUPPLY OF THE HEART.
❤ The vessels that supply and drain from the heart are - the coronary vessels. Coronary vessels are coronary arteries and coronary veins. A brief diagram about the arteries is given below.
THE CORONARY CIRCULATION.
❤ Coronary circulation is when blood circulates through the heart i.e. giving oxygenated blood to the tissues of heart and taking back the deoxygenated blood from the heart, as it happens in all other parts of the body. here difference is that this circulation takes place only through the heart
❤ The major arteries, when in pain affect the heart are left coronary artery, the right coronary artery and its branches. The three major arteries are shown below in a simple diagram to understand their coverage to the heart.
CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE / CORONARY HEART DISEASE.
Is there a difference in these two diseases, no these words are used interchangeably. What exactly is meant by CAD.
❤ It is a cause of Heart attack. Heart attack is caused when there is low or no blood supply to the heart. the heart muscles and they die(necrose).
When specific part of heart does not get blood, it is low in oxygen, so pumping capacity of that area decreases and that part eventually dies.
❤ Why does Specific part of heart does not get blood?
Main reason behind is, the coronary artery i.e. blood supplying artery to the heart gets blocked due to fat deposition in its walls.
That simply means your heart is injured badly.
❤ What are the risk factors of fat deposition in the walls of arteries?
❤ Age- It is independent of age.
❤ Gender- women who have not gained menopause ( stopping of menstrual cycle) are at lower risk. but this risk disappears after menopause.
❤ Genetics- It runs through the generations. If one generation is affected it is too much likely that the further generations are affected.
❤ Personality- even as it is a popular belief, there is no such evidence to support stress can be the cause.
These are unavoidable cause. lets have a review about avoidable and modifiable causes and modifications
❤ Social Deprivation-
It is strongly related to CVD's. Most socially deprived people develop the habit of smoking or drinking, that increases the risk.
Can you be happy when your heart is not happy!
Cheer up and modify your yourself so that your heart can be happy.
❤ Diet, Sedentary lifestyle and Obesity-
There are these different causes like diet. Diet now a days is just referred to as stomach filling and tongue tingling foods. There is no need to give examples of junks, its nothing that you do not know.
Sedentary lifestyle simply means no or very less physical activity. Due to the modifications in types of office jobs and transport reliabilities this type of lifestyle is very quickly adapted. Who doesn't want a stress-free life right!
Obesity is the combination result of both the above reasons
❤ If heart is already blocked👀! What are the common treatments.
Cardiologists' 1st assesses the patents condition with various necessary tests. If the disease is in a starting phase they suggest the patient medications and some lifestyle modifications.
If incase the disease is already progressed, there are many optional surgical and minimal invasive techniques that than prevent the patient's heart from further damage.
I'll show up images of a couple of surgeries that can be an option for the patient depending upon patient's condition
❤ What is Angioplasty-
Angioplasty is an operative procedure to open up the contracted, fat filled artery with the help of stent and balloon. it can be only done during or after angiography (screening the vessels and finding the blocked ones).
Angiography helps show the patents healthy and blocked vessels.
❤ What is a Bypass Surgery-
Oh, when we have the option of angioplasty why do we go for any open heart bypass surgery? Why risk patient through such a tuff surgery?
Doctors do not suggest Bypass until its necessary. When is bypass considered?
As the fat deposited in the wall of arteries thy get narrower and blood supply through it reduces eventually. These blocks increase to a level that cannot be reversed or acted upon with angioplasty the hearts need to be opened. There is a need of blood flow to be established in that area where the vessel supplies. A new healthy vessel graft is inserted in that area, so that that specific part of heart gets blood.
Doctors may give different option to the patients depending on their conditions. Patients are free to decide what option they want on the quality of life they have.
Here what modification can be made-
💗 Not on stoppage of Smoking and Drinking, getting socially involved your own interested area is also a modification that can be made to keep your heart healthy.
💗 Being lonely and not at all involved in any kind of social life is known to be social deprivation. So, we have to do its opposite.
Not everyone likes social work. But there may a thing or two that you always wanted to do in your life. Think on those things and get ready to work on them. You can join that specific community that interests you. This will help in communicating with new people and with the same interest as that of u.
💗 Very important part of day-to-day life DIET
D- Do not
I- Increase
E- Eating's from
T- Time -to-time.
That doesn't mean restrict all your diet. It means eat healthy and avoid over-eating.
Over-eating can happen may at times unknowingly. Like when we feel stressed, we stuff something in our mouth, when we are bored, we do the same. eating is not always the solution.
💗 Eating Right is the Solution. Choose the right option to eat.
💗 Physical Activity- you can start with very light physical activities and then step-up. That help in consistency and less exertion. If u get exerted at the beginning, you will never continue your journey to a healthy heart.
Some types of Pranayam's also help increase the heart efficiency.
💗As these two factors improve your obesity will get controlled automatically.
This is a brief insight about your heart. Be wise and choose wise options for healthy and happy life. If you are happy your heart will be and if your heart is happy, you will definitely be.
